Festival Band is our largest senior ensemble that welcomes woodwind, brass, and percussion players at levels from grade 4 to 8+. This inclusive group provides a fantastic opportunity for musicians to explore a diverse repertoire, which includes everything from original wind band works to arrangements of film and pop music.
Festival Band runs on Saturday mornings, 9.00am-10.30am, at Brookfield Community School
We entertain audiences at a bar of concerts throughout the year. Whether performing classic pieces or modern hits, Festival Band fosters an environment of creativity and collaboration, making it a favourite among our members. Many of our senior musicians also participate at County and National levels.
Meet the director: Andy Davey

Andy is an experienced conductor, music teacher and trombonist.
Originally from the local area, Andy spent his formative years playing the trombone at the local music centre, in brass bands, and in both the Derbyshire City and County Wind Band and orchestra before heading to the University of Huddersfield to further his studies.
Upon his return to the area Andy started his professional career as a brass teacher before moving to the classroom. He was the head of music at a large secondary school in Sheffield for 8 years before returning to work in Chesterfield in January 2023.
Andy has been involved in the brass band movement for over 20 years, both as a player and conductor. He has been the musical director of the Ashover Brass band for over a decade. Andy has also worked as an orchestral trombonist, performing with several musical theatre companies and symphony orchestras.
As an educator Andy believes that musical opportunities should be available to all young people and that making music together is the best way for students to make progress.
