Chamber Orchestra: A profile

Updated: Oct 30, 2024

Our Chamber Orchestra is designed for violin, viola, cello, and double bass players at around grade 4 to grade 8+, providing a rich environment to enhance string techniques through full ensemble playing. With a diverse repertoire spanning multiple genres, musicians are challenged to develop their skills while enjoying collaborative music-making, broadening their musical horizons.

Chamber Orchestra runs on Saturday mornings, 9.00-10.30am at Brookfield Community School.

The orchestra also emphasizes orchestral discipline and listening skills, essential for any successful ensemble. Members foster teamwork and camaraderie in a fun and friendly atmosphere, allowing them to build confidence and share their passion for music while creating lasting friendships as they prepare for future musical challenges.

Charlotte comes from Rotherham and learnt the violin with the Rotherham Music Service. She studied music at the University of Wales, Bangor, and then went on to teach with local music services.

More recently she trained for her Masters in music therapy with Nordoff and Robbins, the UK’s largest music therapy charity. She now delivers music therapy in special schools, making connections through music with children who have a variety of difficulties and needs.

Charlotte is passionate about music education and enjoys directing groups with children and adults alike. She also continues to enjoy playing the violin in orchestras and recitals.

In her spare time she can be found walking the great outdoors, preferably in the direction of coffee and cake!
