Ashover Parish Hall was filled to capacity for a fantastic evening of music from the CNEDMC wind and brass ensembles. With a packed audience and an unmistakable buzz in the air, the concert showcased the remarkable progress, commitment, and musicality of our young performers. From the very first note, it was clear this was going to be a special occasion.

A Programme Full of Highlights

The concert featured a varied and engaging programme across all ensembles. The Flute Choir opened with a stylish and expressive set, while Brass Fusion brought energy and excitement with a selection of well-known favourites. The Clarinet Choir impressed with their rich, blended sound and characterful playing. After the interval, the Concert Band delivered a confident and entertaining performance, before the Festival Band closed the evening with power and precision in Rhythm of the Winds—and a memorable twist to follow.

A Surprise to Remember 🎂

Just when it seemed the Festival Band was about to launch into Miss Saigon Medley, the evening took a delightful and unexpected turn. Conductor Andy Davey raised his baton, ready to begin—but instead of the opening notes, the band surprised him with a heartfelt rendition of “Happy Birthday”! As the music filled the hall, another student walked on stage carrying a birthday cake, much to Andy’s surprise. The audience absolutely loved the moment, joining in the celebration and adding to the already super atmosphere of the evening.

Celebrating Success

This concert was a true celebration of dedication, teamwork, and musical growth. Every ensemble performed with confidence and enthusiasm, and the standard of playing across the board was incredibly high. It was a wonderful reminder of what can be achieved through commitment, collaboration, and a shared love of music.

We look forward to many more inspiring performances in the future!
