CNEDMC Pupils Shine at County Youth Wind Band Residential

A Week of Musical Excellence

This week, it was inspiring to see so many talented pupils from CNEDMC participating in the Derby and Derbyshire City Youth Wind Band residential at Whitemoor Lakes. Under the expert guidance of conductor Mark Heron, students pushed their musical boundaries and showcased their potential during an unforgettable experience.

A Challenging and Diverse Repertoire

The repertoire for the final concert was impressive, featuring a mix of classic and contemporary works. Highlights included Holst's First Suite in E♭, the lively March! by Jennifer Jolley, and the European premiere of Cajun Folk Songs by Frank Ticheli. The concert also featured engaging pieces such as Three Balloons by Wesley Cheang and States of Matter by Jenni Watson, demonstrating the versatility and skill of the musicians.

Beyond Music: Memories Made

The week wasn’t just about music; it was also filled with fun and camaraderie. Campfire evenings, complete with toasted marshmallows, created lasting memories, while a trip to the National Memorial Arboretum offered a moment of reflection and connection with nature.
