CNEDMC Community Music Weekend: A Celebration of Local Talent

The last weekend of June saw an incredible celebration of music, energy, and community spirit, as CNEDMC ensembles took to various stages across the region. Across three performances, our students wowed audiences and shared their passion for music — from lively street performances to an evening concert under the summer sun.

Brass Fusion Brings the Funk to Chesterfield City Centre

Saturday kicked off with Brass Fusion lighting up the streets of Chesterfield. Their signature funky mix of music turned heads and lifted spirits, drawing in passers-by who couldn't resist stopping to listen — and even joining in the fun!

One of the highlights was their rendition of YMCA, complete with audience participation in the iconic dance moves. It was fantastic to see city centre shoppers clapping, dancing, and connecting through music. A true celebration of joy and community!

Folk Group Shines at the Ashover Folk Concert

Later that day, our Folk Group performed as part of the Ashover Folk Concert alongside the Ashover Band and the wonderful Bill Eadson. The concert was a beautiful mix of traditional and contemporary folk music.

Our group presented a thoughtful and diverse programme, which included some brand-new compositions created by the students themselves. The performance also featured improvised solos — a wonderful testament to the confidence and creativity developing within the group. They were warmly received and left a lasting impression on the audience.

Festival Band Closes the Weekend in Style at Barringtons

Sunday evening saw the grand finale with a full performance by our Festival Band at Barringtons. With the sun shining and the gardens full of enthusiastic listeners, it was the perfect setting for a high-energy, feel-good show.

The band delivered a powerhouse performance, and the crowd responded in kind — dancing, cheering, and enjoying every moment. It was a fantastic end to the weekend and a real reminder of the power of live music in bringing people together.
